University of Guyana to receive ICT gift from GT&T & Northern Telecom

In yet another demonstration of its earlier verbal commitment to provide information, communication and technology access to educational institutions, GT&T’s Chief Executive Officer along with a team of officials from the Company met with University of Guyana’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. Marlene Cox and team to discuss GT&T’s proposal to adopt the Internet Café of the newly constructed Computer Laboratory at the University “s Turkeyen Campus.

The CEO and team toured the newly constructed facility and learnt of the University’s plans to have all graduating students computer literate.

The funding for the project will come from both GT&T and Northern Telecom, with Northern Telecom providing between US$15 to 20 thousand dollars.

The project will provide in excess of 20 computers, UPS, and Digital Subscriber Line Internet access.

Students, staff and the general public would access the Café.

GT&T has quietly over the years contributed in excess of G5 million to education, sports, social activities, social services and culture in Guyana.
