| Computers and Internet Access for Five Primary Schools |
Keeping the promise to take information technology into educational institutions, the Company’s CEO and a team met with the Minister of Education and senior education officials to discuss GT&T’s proposal to initially provide computers and internet access to five primary schools. |
The education officials were asked to select the schools at a level that would not easily be provided with the service. The schools selected are the Grahams Hall, Redeemer, J. E Burnham, East La Penitence and Rama Krishna primaries. |
The package would include the installation of rent and user free internet dedicated telephones, two computers for each school and installation of internet service. |
The new telephone services have already been installed in the schools and the total project would be ready for the beginning of the new school year. |
Earlier in the year the company provided the National Library, Georgetown with DSL service. It was during the handing over that the CEO made public the Company’s intention to bridge the digital divide by providing information technology to a select group of schools. |
