Massive US$15M Products & Services Development in 2005
Roaming and other features a reality

Chief Executive Officer, Sonita Jagan in her annual beginning of the year press conference reviewed the Company's products and services development for 2004 and announced the programme for 2005.

In her review the CEO highlighted the net line gain of 10,500 in 2004 and the continued roll out of additional lines promised in that programme. She also highlighted the move to the GSM network and the continued growth in the cellular customer base. She said that she was pleased to see the growth of the GSM service. The Company recognized that the coverage was not as good as the TDMA and therefore immediately moved to fill the gaps. She referred to the recent turn up of the Sophia and Eccles cellular sites and the moves being made to do the same at Cove & John, Mahaicony, Parika and Brighton. "Once those areas are filled in there will be seamless service."

Ms. Jagan gave an update on the much anticipated Lethem Cellular site, saying that GT&T is working with the satellite company . since this system will operate via satellite - and the turn up is in the final stages. She said that a new cell site will also be erected at Mahdia.

She said that she was extremely pleased to report on the completion of the installation of all the rural remote phones that were promised in 2004. "The many letters of thank you from many of the communities where these installations were done tell us that it is not only the fact it is something that we have to continue to do but is necessary for the development of Guyana...I want us to be a full part of that."

The CEO said that Roaming has commenced, and a few individuals have already started to use the service. Roaming agreements, she said, are "up and running" with Cable & Wireless throughout the Caribbean, T-Mobile and Cingular/AT&T. TSTT Trinidad, Telesur in Suriname, AT&T Wireless (Caribbean) and eventually Digicel are slated for turn up shortly.

Testing is currently being done in French Guiana, Orange in Israel, Spice in India, Claro in Brazil, Panasel in Ecquador, Telsel in Mexico and Tim in Italy even though they are not on the verge of immediate commercial turn.up.

Ms. Jagan that there will be no immediate mark up on the roaming charge to customers .a commitment given to the Public Utilities Commission - "they will pay what is charged to us by the other carriers." It is hoped that with the inflow of roaming customers from the other countries the Company can "make up." The GSM phone browsing and the camera to camera picture phones are currently operational.

The Press Conference traditionally hosted in January was rescheduled because of the damage caused to the country by unusually heavy rainfall.
